Bruel affair: Mediapart accuses CNews of deception after the published of an interview with one in all its journalists


A number of individuals interviewed within the report Patrick Bruel: from seducer to predator?broadcast Friday June 12 on CNews, denounce having been manipulated concerning the id of the broadcasting channel.

Amongst them, Marine Turchi, journalist at Mediapartwhich printed an investigation in March into accusations of sexual violence in opposition to the singer. Manufacturing defends itself

In a narrative printed on Instagram, Guillaume Genton responded that the report had been “commissioned and produced for a Belgian channel” and that “ CNews then acquired the rights for French territory. The producer denies accusations of deception. “Opposite to what Mediapart asserts, at no time did our groups current themselves underneath a false id or as belonging to a different media with the purpose of deceiving anybody,” he assures.

Guillaume Genton believes that a few of the individuals highlighted by Mediapart harbor “a visceral hatred of CNews for private and political causes (…) We deplore that their ideology pushes them to jot down lies and deform actuality,” he provides, lastly welcoming the success of the documentary.

Not sufficient to persuade the witnesses. The co-founder of #MusicToo, Jean-Michel Aubry Journet, denounces “a narrative of morals and ethics”, refusing to be “utilized by a channel which makes our communities targets”. The lawyer for the alleged victims, Myriam Guedj-Benayoun, speaks of “betrayal” and evokes potential “id theft”. Mediapart proclaims that it reserves “the opportunity of taking authorized motion” in opposition to the authors of those strategies.
