In Brussels, the Subaru Outback is back, but in an electric version this time

You’re tired of SUVs, well, you’re not the only one! It is therefore a pleasure to rediscover the raised station wagon and even more so at Subaruwho was one of the specialists on the subject.

This new Outback incorporates all the characteristics with an imposing length of 4.83 m, significant ground clearance and body protection present at the level of the shields, wheel arches or door sills. Unsurprisingly, the imposing grille is full as on many electric models.

The space in the back is not as generous as we thought.

Who says station wagon, says significant carrying capacity and this is the case of this Outback, which has a significant trunk volume. No official communication on the subject, but the trunk should offer a volume of 600 liters according to our information. Contrasted results for habitability where passengers will have legroom, but we have experienced better given the length.

At the front, the dashboard is very close to the last generation of Solterrathe other electric model of Subaru with une digital instrumentation positioned relatively high, but above all a 14-inch multimedia screen, which is the largest ever offered by the Japanese manufacturer. Good news, there is plenty of storage space on board.

This E-Outback shares many mechanical elements with the Toyota BZ4X Touringbut it is assembled in Subaru factories. The latter was therefore able to reserve specific settings and this Outback is obviously a 4×4 thanks to the presence of an electric motor on each axle, which are powered by a 74.7 kWh battery. The cumulative power is 375 hp while the autonomy reaches 450 km, which is modest. The maximum charging power is 150 kW in direct current.

The Caradisac moment: Subaru is back

Hit hard by the penalty, one would have thought that Subaru would disappear from the French market. Fortunately, this is not the case. Even if the sales figures are still very low, the Japanese manufacturer is coming back to the forefront with a 100% electric range made up of 3 models: the Solterra, the Uncharged and this Outback. A start, which is better than nothing.
