devlog started as a shared notes file between a few backend and frontend engineers who kept explaining the same things to new teammates — how closures actually work, when to reach for GraphQL instead of REST, why a branching strategy that works for a five-person team falls apart at fifty. Eventually those notes turned into articles worth publishing.

We write for working developers, not beginners looking for a first tutorial and not conference-keynote abstractions. Every article on this site is written to answer a real question we've either been asked directly or run into ourselves while building something.

What you'll find here

Practical articles on JavaScript and other languages, API design, DevOps and infrastructure, version control workflows, and the everyday decisions that don't make it into official documentation. No sponsored placements disguised as opinions, and no filler written to hit a word count.

How we work

Articles are researched and written in-house, reviewed for technical accuracy before publishing, and updated when something we wrote turns out to be wrong or outdated. If you spot an error, we want to know — see the contact page.

How this site is funded

devlog is supported in part by display advertising served through Google AdSense. Ads are clearly labeled and placed so they don't interrupt the reading experience. We don't accept paid placements that would be presented as unbiased articles. For more detail on data collection related to advertising, see our Privacy Policy.
