Ubisoft co-founder Claude Guillemot dies in aircraft crash


Claude Guillemot, co-founder of French online game firm Ubisoft, died Friday on the age of 69.

According to French media (by way of Bloomberg), Guillemot died in a aircraft crash within the French resort city of La Baule. He was one in all two individuals aboard the aircraft, each of whom died.

Guillemot based Ubisoft together with his 4 brothers in 1986. Since then, the corporate has printed the Murderer’s Creed, Far Cry, Prince of Persia, and Tom Clancy online game franchises, in addition to many different titles. The household retains management of Ubisoft, and Guillemot’s brother Yves continues to be CEO.

Guillemot was additionally chairman of Guillemot Corp., which makes gaming and audio equipment.

“Ubisoft was deeply saddened to be taught of the dying of Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the group and chairman of Guillemot Corp., in an accident,” Ubisoft stated in an announcement. “Our ideas are together with his household and family members throughout this tough time. No additional statements can be made right now.””
